My gut says these tools are going to be separate from the LMS, e.g., SharePoint. But the next level of content access from outside the LMS is search. The idea is that the course content should be integrated into enterprise search so that it can be found and used when the person needs help with something. This is a more complex requirement as it means requirements for enterprise search, the LMS and most often the content as well.

Since there is a search feature built into WordPress, someone probably removed the PHP tag from the template. For example, one the first comments by Mr. Carswell is that Sharepoint is excluded because it imposes structure.

A contact asked me what I saw as the link between Sharepoint and elearning, and I started to give my standard answer about portals fitting in with the whole performance ecosystem. Last I played with Sharepoint, it seemed like a portal solution; a place to deposit files. However, I decided to update myself on Sharepoint features, and went to look at Microsoft’s page. They tout collaboration, content management, and search as well as portals.

Corollary: if you have SharePoint installed, you will be using SharePoint a lot more this year. #3 In 2008, I felt compelled to launch Work Literacy , and help help people and organizations upgrade skills like Leveraging Networks , Network Feedback , F inding Expertise , Using Social Media to Find Answers to Questions , Learning through Conversation and searching, scanning, etc. Last year I laid out in January my Ten Predictions for eLearning 2008.
