My 25 Years of Ed Tech

Stephen Downes: Half an Hour

1998 – Wikis Also: CMSs, RSS I didn't bother with Wikis. I had designed OLe so that it used free-standing 'modules', and the IMS-LOM was perfect for this. Martin Weller has released his book 25 Years of Ed Tech today. It's a nice read; you are encouraged to check it out.

Introduction to Social Networking

Harold Jarche

tools are a form of social networking, but for this module we’re going to focus on “ego-centric&# social networks, those that are focused on individuals, as opposed to networks that build up around objects, such as Delicious, Flickr, Slideshare, etc. Each network offers different types of search capabilities and once you’ve located a potential friend, you must send an “invitation” to invite them into your personal network. The 2016 Look at the Future of Online Learning

Stephen Downes: Half an Hour

The Future of Online Learning: Ten Years On

Stephen Downes: Half an Hour

Often user interaction is provided – the user might type a term into a search widget, for example – and often some form of processing is requested at the remote website. The World Wide Web today contains millions, and maybe billions, of (what used to be called) presentations, ranging from blog posts to wiki entries to videos posted on YouTube to Flickr photographs to SlideShare slide shows.
