I’m involved in several discussions around how to use Wikis as part of learning solutions. So, of course, I went to eLearning Learning and I looked at Wiki , Collaborative Learning with Wikis , Wikis and eLearning 2.0 , Wikis Corporate eLearning , Social Learning with Wikis , Wiki Security and a few others. Here’s some of what I found: Why a Wiki?

Training Design

Tony Karrer

I've been struggling a bit to capture a concept that I believe represents a fairly fundamental shift in how we need to think about Training Design. Oh, and I called it Learning Design in the diagrams, but I'm afraid that it's really more about Training Design.

Course and Courseware Fading - The Future of eLearning

Tony Karrer

Two very good recent posts by Jay Cross and Brent Schlenker discuss the Death of Courses. If you read my blog you know that I've discussed similar themes (see Shift in eLearning from Pure Courseware towards Reference Hybrids and Start with Courseware or With the Other Stuff? ) Courses and Courseware are not really dead and will never die out completely. I believe that many courses will begin to include different kinds of interation. Keywords: eLearning Trends

I've been asked several times a similar question so I thought I would throw it out to see what readers here will recommend for doing basic video-based elearning authoring. They would like to convert this to self-paced eLearning. The currently planned design is to chop the video up into relatively short segments, put in questions in between the segments as knowledge checks, and then have a graded exam at the end.

Shift in eLearning from Pure Courseware towards Reference Hybrids

Tony Karrer

The shift I'm seeing is away from the design of pure "courseware" solutions and much more to "reference hybrid" solutions. To explain this, I need to step back and deal with the fact that terminology around eLearning Patterns is problematic. It's designed to hit particular instructional objectives. It can be created using Wiki software, a content management system, web editing software or even Microsoft Word stored as HTML.

Informal Learning – the other 80%

Managers need to be involved in this ‘post-training reinforcement’ as well as in any course or programme planning. In many cases this simply doesn’t happen and any value that may have come form a workshop, programme or eLearning course disappears without trace.
