A humorous presentation of Blogs vs. Wikis

Beyond the cleverness of this video, it is interesting to note that the creator decided to focus on the control aspect as the key difference between wikis and blogs. Enjoy the video. Tags: social media technology stewardship Monday videos wikis blogs

Wiki Course Authoring

Tony Karrer

In my Ten Predictions for eLearning for 2008 , I said - Wiki + SCORM + Add-ins will become more common for easy authoring. Not sure if he saw my post, but I was just reminded by Tim Seager from Xerceo about their Prescribe tool that provides: Full Wiki, RSS functionality that is SCORM conformant for tracking and managing competencies. He also pointed me to a video that shows the tool in action. Their video makes it look really complicated.

Video-Based eLearning Authoring Tools

Tony Karrer

I've been asked several times a similar question so I thought I would throw it out to see what readers here will recommend for doing basic video-based elearning authoring. The situation is that they have five, two-hour training videos (10 hours total). The currently planned design is to chop the video up into relatively short segments, put in questions in between the segments as knowledge checks, and then have a graded exam at the end. No real video editing experience.

2.0 is a philosophy, not a technology

Jay Cross's Informal Learning

Informal Video conferencing. Informal Non-formal video. Informal Guerilla video (Flip cams). Social Wikis. Social Blogs (written/ video). Internet Time Alliance spent a couple of days last week putting the 2.0 into a tedious proposal for a large, forward-facing multinational corporation. Among our recommendations were: Informal Live webcasts. Informal Recorded webinars.

Learning as Artifact Creation

George Siemens

Going back about a century ago, audio, then video, was also going to disrupt education. A stunning period web innovation occurred between 2000-2005: delicious, myspace, many blog platforms, flickr, wikis, etc. Upload a video to youtube. Someone creates a video reacting to a lecture I delivered? How does creating a blog post, video, or meme contribute to enlarging the curriculum? Digitization is deceptive in that the deep impact isn’t readily observable.
