I ensure online security by using a password manager: 1Password. Curation Tools : My aggregator of choice is Feedly and I keep social bookmarks in Diigo.

1) Two issues that come up, at least in the world of training in a government environment, is that of a) security of information, and b) control of the information given to the learner to make sure it is accurate. Security of the information is something that hopefully your IT organization is already dealing with. I recommend adopting their tools and their security mechanisms. As a side note, I think selling Twitter/Yammer is harder than selling social bookmarking and wikis.

Social Bookmarking and Wikis and Blogs are a form of social networking I never said this, but several people pointed it out in the chat. I certainly talk about a big part of the value of blogs being building a network. The same thing can be true with social bookmarking, wikis, flickr, etc. Using social bookmarking or meme tracking works okay. Most of us blog to Learn and Network.
