Whose Side(wiki) Are You On?

Doc Searls

The arguments here were foreshadowed in the architecture of the Web itself, the essence of which has been lost to history — or at least to search engines. Look up Wikipedia+Web on Google and you won’t find Wikipedia’s World Wide Web entry on the first page of search results. In simple terms, it was (and remains) a way to opt out of appearance in search results. What are we to make of Sidewiki ? Is it, as Phil Windley says , a way to build the purpose-centric Web

Martijn Linssen

Heres the definition of VRM according to Wiki: The goal of VRM is to improve the relationship between the demand-side and the supply-side of markets by providing new and better ways for the former to relate to the latter. There is no relationship if theres not a darn good product in the first place. I stand corrected: there might be a relationship, albeit it cumbersome, via bad, to nagging, without a good product. in the production of balloons).

Business or Pleasure? - why not both: Why customer service can't.

Martijn Linssen

Wikis definition suits me: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase In the ideal situation , a product is that good that it doesnt need WOM , or simply publicity, and will sell itself - meaning no customer will ever have to rely on before-purchase service of your product. It stands without reasoning that such a great product doesnt need service during a purchase either. Due to the product, or the user - irrelevant.

Domino’s: It Takes More Than Campaigns To Look Good Naked

Steve Denning

In desperation, after discovering that its critics were correct—its pizzas did taste like cardboard— Domino’s admitted the reality and invited its harshest critics to help improve its product. It jettisoned its 49-year-old cardboard/ketchup recipe, and replaced it with a product that won blind tasting tests against its competitors’ pizzas. They even had Stephen Colbert taste-test their product on his show, and drooling: “Is that pizza, or did an angel just give birth in my mouth?”.

Is There a Better Way to Social Learning?

By doing this, George argues that vendors (LMS in particular), and the organizations they sell to, will begin to see their product no longer as simply an event-based tool for learning, but rather as a process-based tool for capacity planning and workplace effectiveness. Coaches, mentors, online buddies need to coexist within the wiki’s, blogs, discussion forums, webcam meetings, online presence, etc. A quick social media search also turned up a number of comments on the subject.

And in the process, they missed disruptive innovations that opened up new customers and markets for alternative blockbuster products. It’s an inside-out perspective of tweaking the value chain and searching for internal efficiencies as the main goal of management. Beyond any of the political skirmishing around the recent health reform law lies the issue of the poor performance of the US health system. Almost as frightening as its cost is how poorly it performs.
