Follow-up from the Leadership Learning Community Webinar

Nancy White

I decided to abandon a more formal presentation style to try and engage people from the start because after all, this was what the webinar was about! So we started with some polls, and then with my host, Grady McGonagill, we took questions during the presentation and Grady and I diverged into conversation as well. Twitter and Webinars

Tony Karrer

The last few online webinars I've attended there's been an interesting issue. So, both the webinar tool (Elluminate, WebEx, Adobe Connect, etc.) Presentation Mastery: Twitter as a Presentation Resource There are lots of good suggestions in these, but they don't really address the issue of how to present when the audience may be splitting their chat between the webinar tool and twitter. For right now, I've been asking people to chat using the webinar tool.

Webinar Design / Training

Tony Karrer

In the post - Webinar Software - Adoption Advice - one of the comments I made was: If you've done webinars, you know that they are different to design and deliver successfully than other kinds of presentations and training. My very first presentation was a large public presentation where they had muted the entire audience (dead silence) and there was no moderator. That of appreciating the difference between Webinars and other online presentations.

Webinar Software - Adoption Advice

Tony Karrer

Good question about adoption of webinar software / services - this time from someone who went to my workshop in Cincinnati - Revolution in Workplace Learning - who by the way - called it "awesome." Our webinars have been successful by our standards and for the most part, we've been early adopters of the technology. If you've done webinars, you know that they are different to design and deliver successfully than other kinds of presentations and training.

New Feature in Webinar Tool

Tony Karrer

Maybe I've not been paying attention, but in the webinar that I just finished, the tool GoToMeeting had a neat feature that showed the percentages of people who were paying attention (had the meeting visual in the foreground) vs. those who were not paying attention. Also - know that the organizer/presenter can now tell if you have their visuals front and center

Presenting in a networked age

Clark Quinn

The Learning Circuit’s Big Question this month has to do with the increasing prevalence of internet access during presentations. The context is that during presentations it’s certainly possible that your audience is multi-tasking, and the question is; what are the implications? The audience can be doing things related to the presentation, like live-blogging it, tweeting it, or taking notes (I’ve been known to mindmap a keynote a time or two).
