Knowledge sharing paradox revisited

The knowledge sharing paradox is that enterprise social tools can constrain what they are supposed to enhance. People will freely share their knowledge if they remain in control of it because knowledge is a very personal thing. I don’t see the reverse working.

Ten Predictions for eLearning 2008

Here are my predictions, but realistically they are more about trends in eLearning and eLearning Software. Wiki + SCORM + Add-ins will become more common for easy authoring. Luckily a few will also add in more community and wiki capabilities. Unfortunately, you can ask all you want, you will still be doing a lot of work with LMS products this year. The Big Question this month are Predictions for Learning in 2008.

Reflecting on the first half of 2009

Any remaining training staff will become mentors, coaches and facilitators who work on improving core business processes, strengthening relationships with customers and cutting costs. Wherever possible, we’re replacing proprietary software with open source. Workplace learning is morphing from blocks of training followed by working to a merger of work and learning: they are becoming the same thing. Becoming very comfortable working while standing up.

The Enterprise 2.0 Recovery Plan

As I got to work and tried to deliver results and benefits as quickly as possible, I’d be guided by a set of principles, many of which I’ve discussed in this blog: The company ‘knows’ the answers to our questions. The knowledge required to answer them exists within the workforce. This knowledge is widely diffused, constantly changing, and not contained in the mind of any single person (As Friedrich Hayek pointed out many years ago), but it is out there.
