Designing E-Learning 3.0 in gRSShopper - 2

Stephen Downes: Half an Hour

In the previous segment I decided to create a course with modules and sections, and set up the modules. I'll fill out the actual content of those modules over time. What I want to do is list the course modules and events (there's only one course so I don't need to list courses). p (I have to do a Google search on 'WinSCP show hidden files' to remember how to find hidden files like.htaccess -- ah, here it is.) Figure 15 - where are my modules?

The RSS Feed The course isn't truly distributed until it has an RSS feed. We'll use the course newsletter as our RSS feed, except we'll publish the output in rss2 format instead of HTML. So, exactly as before, we'll build the RSS page in the page Editor. Dates in RSS need to be RFC 822, so I use date format=rfc822 - I've included keywords for both posts and media, so I can include the videos as links in the RSS feed.

My 25 Years of Ed Tech

My contributions included this effort in learning design. 1998 – Wikis Also: CMSs, RSS I didn't bother with Wikis. Instead, for me, 1998 was the year of RSS and content syndication. I did a lot of work with RSS, combining it with content management systems (CMS).

In other words, to define the 'authors' table first, and define 'post' later, so that you can select the author table from a list when defining how to designate the post author. First of all, how do define events: I needed to decide between the ' Calendar ' module and the 'CCK' module. How about the Calendar module? First I had to find it - once again, Drupal's awful search made what should have been a one-minute job a ten minute exercise in frustration.

A New Website, Part Seven - Converting The Data

Stephen Downes: Half an Hour

This is a bit tricky because my website includes both harvested content from Edu_RSS and generated content such as my articles and posts. Tricky, but not impossible, for as we have seen Drupal also has an RSS aggregator. I had always kept the two types of content - Edu_RSS links and my own content - separate, but recently I started putting all that into one big table, distinguished only by content 'type' and by the author. module, something that's firmly developed for 5.0,

Introduction to Social Networking

Harold Jarche

tools are a form of social networking, but for this module we’re going to focus on “ego-centric&# social networks, those that are focused on individuals, as opposed to networks that build up around objects, such as Delicious, Flickr, Slideshare, etc. LinkedIn is primarily a professional network, designed to facilitate linkages between people who are wanting to connect for work-related purposes.

My Moodle Test

I didn’t believe it myself, so I did the following Google search: “Moodle and standards.” Its 18 months old, so I did a quick search of the Moodle forums to see what the status of the SCORM export feature is today. SCORM is only one of 12 standard learning modules in Moodle. Home About Podcasts Videos Xyleme Inc.

E-Learning Generations

Another key idea was the design of the gaming space itself.Early computer games (and many early arcade games) were designed likeprogrammed learning: they were like a flow chart, guiding you through a seriesof choices to a predetermined conclusion. Second, it created the idea that these content modules orchunks were sharable. To this day, the learningmanagement system is designed essentially to present content and supportdiscussion and activities around that content.

Books, papers, self-paced learning modules, resources, learner discussions, reflective logs/blogs, images, audio, video. Consider things like aggregated content pulled in by persistent searches and tags, Amazon style interests. This can be done outside of a learning platform using a social bookmarking tool like [link] , [link] or [link] / (the latter is specifically designed for research and education contexts).
