These arethe results: the top 100 Web apps, 10 in each of 10 categories,determined by Webware readers and the fans of the sites that made thefinal cut. There were more than 5,000 nominations for sites to be included inthis awards program, which Webwares editors pruned to a list of 250finalists. Users then voted on those finalists--there were 489,467votes cast--to come up with these " Look at all the learning apps!! Oh wait.there arent any on the list.but what should be instructive (irony intended) is that there are a LOT of apps on the list that people use for learning. Sooo.we arent using tools (or voting for them) that are expressly made for learning but instead we are kluging together other apps to get the job done. Online courses were developed according to a protocol that developed over 20 years of experience. I followed up reading Rumelhard and MacClelland, and attending a Connectionism conference in Vancouver in 1990, and developed a network-based approach from there, incorporating the web, RSS, email newsletters, and other decentralized and distributed practices. The course itself was George's idea.
