My Reflections on the Mobile World Congress

Over my career I have become a technology "conference veteran" beginning with Comdex in the 80’s. This event grew to over 220,000 attendees and over 20,000 vendors. For several years I was privileged to be a judge for Best of Comdex, so became very familiar with the conference. Following the closing of this show, I have attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but it never has reached the same size or stature of Comdex (in my opinion.)

Reflecting on my TAFE Workshop Approach

Just a quick post to point to a great piece of advice from the ever-wonderful Chriss Corrigan, The art of giving instructions: 7 practices for facilitators. Scan the snippet then, if you are a facilitator, read the whole thing. It is worth your time. Come to think of it, these apply for parents, bosses and anyone else. I think one of the hardest things to do as a facilitator is master the art of giving instructions.

Last Monday I was a guest of the Leadership Learning Community for an short online gathering. The description was pretty loose and they expected around 50 people to show up. Communities, Networks and Engagement: Finding a Place for Action. We have so many online tools at our disposal to theoretically connect and activate engagement with others. But what happens when we say “we’re building an online community” but few engage? When is it worth the work and effort?

#Change11 My MOOC week is here…

…and I’m not really ready! Can one every be ready for change? I don’t think it is so much ready for change, but living in a way that embraces the fact that change is already happening. Or perhaps this is self justification for my lack of preparation as the host or whatever of the Change: Education, Learning and Technology. As I wrote quite a while back in Preparing for my MOOC Contribution , I would not focus on a particular piece of writing.
